Hi everyone! My dad drives a 2011 Renault work van. He had it parked as normal and reversed it this morning. He had two bangs when he reversed, so got out to check what it was and couldn’t see anything. He drove forward and found this underneath the van. It’s very heavy. Any ideas what it could be?

Looks like a hand. The owner of the hand has a pink jumper I think.
Part of your suspension?
This just looks like the remains of the hook from the serial killer that must have crept up on your van while you were parked last night.
Nothing to worry about…
Looks like a coil spring
Looks like the top of a walking stick from the old lady you ran over.
It looks like a part of the coil on the spring. It has snapped off the end.
Part of the suspension coil spring, looks weird but it’s a common way for them to fail. Needs replacement unfortunately, probably need a shock absorber as well.
Yip part of the coil spring has sheered. Usually happens in the colder weather. Get the other three corners checked as well as last time this happened one of my own vehicles the front passenger broke along with rear driver side.
Definitely part of the coil spring. Get it sorted asap and don’t drive the van until it is fixed.
Coil spring. Get it done soon shouldn’t be a need to change a shock unless the shock is leaking or visibly damaged. Wouldn’t be loading up the van until done
Is it a Renault Master? I’ve had 5 of these all from new and every single one of them makes a horrible noise like the springs are settling in or something.
It settles in after a few thousand kms, yours obviously has had a catastrophic failure.
Defo a coil gone, check each corner you should spot it pretty easy
Part of your coil spring fella.
Minotour penis?
Its the wheel
That’s yoke for the thing.
Ah, that’s part of the flange for the flugepump. It helps gryo rotate the slans meditator to give a smoother injection of oil
Thats the double sided electric cable so you can listen to the radio and drive at the same time
Definitely an extremadudalator. Unfortunately, it will need replacing quickly.
To save (literally) a few cents manufactures no longer slowly cool the springs after the hardening process which lowers the number of cycles they could sustain from the very outset. Most springs fail due to fatigue, meaning they have sustained many compression-extension cycles, and the metal becomes brittle and breaks. If the amplitude of these cycles is large, the fatiguing process is accelerated. Vans with continually overloaded rears are candidates for early spring failure.
It’s part of Methuselahs Horn , it keeps the St Elmos fire behind the waffle sprockets.
Edit . Your suspension coil spring needs replacing, check the suspension mounts / joints and shock absorber. They will have seen extra abuse due to this failing
Oh dear, that’s your left phalange that’s fallen off
