Maria Bailey on ‘swing-gate’ and Varadkar: ‘Leo threw petrol on a fire’

  1. >“It was my mistake; I knew I wasn’t in the right frame of mind, but what politician hasn’t done a bad interview?”

Delusional until the end. It wasn’t just a bad interview, it was a complete car crash interview where even Sean O’Rourke couldn’t save you. It was also hilarious, which is why you became a figure of fun.

A bad interview is forgotten about quickly. An interview in which you confirm everyone’s worst prejudices about you ends your career.

The only one as bad is probably Robert Troy recently.

  2. There was countrywide uproar about the case before the interview.

It was a completely bogus claim made by an entitled waste of space. I wouldn’t say it was a bad interview but a highly accurate one.

Even today, she blames the people around her and not the fact that she sued for being negligent herself and falsely claimed to be injured 🏃🏻‍♀️

  3. — her family were upset that Varadkar turned up at the funeral home

No doubt they would be saying he didn’t have the decency to show up if he didn’t.

  4. This bloody woman. She still can’t wrap her head around the fact that trying to sue someone else for your own mistakes leaves a bad taste in everyone’s mouth. The entitlement beggars belief.

  5. I can’t believe this woman is so terrible, I’m actually on Leo bloody Varadkar’s side for once….

  6. Literally takes no responsibility. Years on she reckons she is still the victim for acting the complete bollox

  7. She’s a cabbage. Fell arse over head because she decided to get on a swing whilst holding a bottle in one hand and a wine cooler in the other. She decided to do that, not the venue. The fall was her own fault and Leo called her out on it. For once, fair play to him. She was running personal best times after the fall. Not surprised given the family history though. Her father was a complete chancer with some of the stunts he pulled over the years. A quick wiki search will break them down – all can be confirmed with further research. Elected public officials that only serve their own interests

  8. My god this woman has dug to china now.

This could all have been mitigated by just admitting she fucked up suing was in bad judgment and donating the money to charity.

But her ego just cannot take any fault.

    Entitled cunt

  9. As a public figure she should’ve known better than to pursue the claim. TDs regularly have to let things like this slide. But it’s not at all difficult to believe Varadkar used this as an opportunity to appear tough on claims culture in headlines without actually having to reform anything. Most of her claims can’t be verified until Varadkar makes the report public, but he’s unwilling to do that.

  10. She got out of that situation very lucky. The public scrutiny she faced was absolutely right too. What she was attempting to do was akin to fraud. She deliberately withheld vital information pertaining to her “fall”.

  11. One minor detail missing from this is the reason for the political pressure to withdraw her claim.

Our Darling Maria here ran that 10k with Varadkar himself. Varadkar, our then head of state, was going to be called up to testify in this case. Leo dodged a much bigger bullet by dumping this complete twat.

I do enjoy every time this fool rears her head every now and again. It reminds us all that our decisions have consequences and she’s lucky she wasn’t done for perjury.

I mean, imagine looking at the giant red self destruct button, surrounded by signs saying, “DO NOT TOUCH!” pressing it, imploding your whole life and then blaming everyone else!

    Very entertaining.

  12. Thanks for posting this here 🙂

For people, who see this and agree that this is dumb, please update the topic

  13. Greedy cunt got caught scamming. If she’s like this in her personal life she lacks the integrity to hold public office. An awful geebag.

  14. She’d want to be careful doing the warm victim lean on that tree. Could easily fall over and not hurt herself.

  15. Why is anyone still giving that waste of space any time? Like RTÉ want us to all pay for their crap service and this is what they are putting out there.

  16. I think she did alot of damage to herself but I’d love to see

” The Kennedy review – which Fine Gael never published but which has been seen by The Irish Times”

There might be something to the article that she was cleared by ir but Leo threw her under a bus. It sounds like his style.

  17. I could only get through a third of that article without being triggered by her narcissism.

Why can’t everybody see that SHE is the real victim here.

  18. It would be totally fair for Maria Bailey to be accused of Fraud. I mean trying to claim compensatation of a sore leg mere days before running some mini marathon is disgusting. It’s absolutely objectionable and I don’t know how pity pieces like this are even tolerated in my view.

Within days of her situation a few yrs back, we had opinion writers saying that the mere embarrassment of her situation being public knowledge was punishment enough for her. I mean come off it. I don’t enjoy public shaming at all, but if someone is out committing fraud, they should be held accountable, and the feckin entitled in that interview blew me away.

  19. Who would have thought a guy like Leo would discard you as soon as your presence became inconvenient?

    Shocked I am.

  20. The woman is an absolute pig, and continues to conduct herself accordingly; still under the impression she did nothing wrong, and is hard done by.

  21. If you don’t recall the radio interview … she basically said “well the facts are I have medical expenses and that’s undeniable, so someone should pay them”.

The very patient interviewer was like … “er maybe you pay them?”

  22. Swings are 100% set up as fun, novelty thing.

A lot of this fun comes as they’re inherently unstable by their very nature and as a seat suspended by ropes they don’t usually have a backrest.

For this reason it is plainly obvious that you need to hold on with both hands to maintain your position, balance and safety.

To sit in a swing having consumed alcohol, holding a bottle of beer in one hand and a full wine cooler in the other hand is utterly stupid and wholly negligent of ones own personal safety.

To then not take responsibility and start suing the poor business owner is disgusting beyond belief.

Josepha Madigan also has questions to answer here if she knew the full facts before embarking on this journey.
