I am curious, that guy can go from a country to country, burn as many Qurans in front of Muslims as he wants, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that legally? I get Denmark and Sweden have freedom of expression, but I thought they also had hate crime laws. For example its one thing saying I don’t like gay people and it’s different thing calling them slurs and burning a LGBTQ flag on a pride parade.
u r secular bruh.
Türkiye’s laicity seems like a distant dream.
None gives a fuck, makes me want to burn a Quran, not because I care shit about religion, just because everyone should be free to burn any book as long as he has paid for it.
Meanwhile millions of Muslims are detained in China and no Muslim countries do or say anything.
Could never understand why a single country can deny the entry of another country in Nato. Why not using the 2/3 majority?
Yes this is the case. Books can be burnt without legal ramifications. The islamic world has to learn to be less thin skinned on this point. There are 8 billion people in the world, and many are trolls. If it’s this easy to troll and trigger an international incident then people will do it just for the entertainment value of the reaction.
Quran is not Turkiye holy book
Well shit , I guess turkey still says no to NATO
The things they demand, just as with many of their demands for NATO approval, are illegal in Sweden. They probably know that and say these things anyway just to get maximum reaction.
Ah yes.
Sacred values
Turkey is dragging this out, on the fore evening of a war. They don’t want Sweden in and are making this too hard on everybody. I smell a hidden agenda. Please throw Turkey out of NATO until they’ve extradited the terrorist in charge to The Hague for persecution.
Freedom of Speech???
Go fuck a goat
Haha fuck off turks
This almost certainly seems like some sort of political ploy. It is of course unacceptable to burn any holy book in public of such significance to people of that religion, but Turkey is not the automatic ambassador for all Muslims. When a Bible is burnt in a foreign country, I don’t think Italy stands up and condemns the act internationally. Equally, neither would Turkey for the Quran… although it in fact did. The response seems disproportionate to the act here, even when the act is undoubtedly wrong.
Burning a collection of old fables is in fact not a hate crime.
I’m pretty sure there are more serious crimes around the world related to Islam and targeting Muslims than this. Just grow up.
Fuck them
Now yall are ready to burn books, it really reminds me something…
Well – that is one reason why the path for Turkey into the EU has and will be rocky. Freedom of speech is the two-edged sword they dont like but this situation is a typical example of what a nation has to deal with if freedom of speech is accepted in their culture.
oh no.
anyway.
Atatürk is spinning so fast in his grave that you could attach a generator to him and power Turkey for a decade.
This phamlet really makes me burn a Quran publicly just to troll Erdogan and all conservative muslims gofos he tries to please with this, for some of their fucking votes.
Try burning an lgbt flag, see how that goes. Looking forward to an explanation on how that is any different.
Burning holy book: oh so brave and freedom of speech
Burning LGBT flag: cancel him, get him fired, crucify him, acuse him of rape racism misoginy and all the other things.
Pre-thanks for the ban.
I mean they can burn Bible in Turkey in front of a church and argue it’s just human right. Not that they are not allowed to do it in their country.
Can’t Sweden send a complaint about the anti-secular tendencies that prevail in Turkey? I’m pretty sure I already know which country is more open to other religions and perspectives..
“our holy book”
Ataturk would make a backflip in his grave if he saw what came of his beautiful secular state.
They can burn the Bible and everyone will be happy.
Oh yes China has Muslim Concentration camps and no one cares, But someone burns a religious book and they loose their fricking minds. Also i thought they were Secular?
To all the EU citizens upset at the erosion of Turkish laïcite: Your leaders wanted this.
The EU was an ardent supporter of Erdoğan – demanding his release from the prison he was put in for calling for jihad and later on being a loyal ally as he purged the lay establishment.
Turks may have voted for him (although the highest share of the vote he has ever received is 52%, meaning he never had overwhelming support) but the EU too slept with the devil. And both are now reaping what they sowed.
It sould be a Rule that you cant be in NATO and EU if you are a Religion Centric Goverment.
Only brings strife and conflict. Nothing good ever came out of Religion.
This is so stupid. I am a Turkish citizen and, like most young non-Muslim Turks, a non-muslim. The Turkish government won’t do anything if others say bad things about agnosticism.
Your politicians always give Erdo what he wants to win elections. He always fights with a European country before elections. The last one was with the Netherlands. I think your politicians like him a lot, unlike you.”
Atatürk was naïve. It is impossible for Islamic societies to become secular. Ever. They are not part of western civilization. Never have been, never will be. Period.
Doesnt this go against the constitution of Turkey?
Burning books is in bad taste but it isn’t a crime, and Turkey is supposedly a secular country.
Burning a “holy” book; the *actual* victimless “crime”.
If noone sees you burning a quran, is anyone offended? Nope. Nothing happens. Noone knows, noone is affected and no imaginary sky-friends are offended.
Only the actual knowledge of something happening is causing the ruckus. If we said someone burned a quran, the response would be the same, even if no burning hade actually taken place.

It’s beyond dumb. It’s religious.
