I was in Dublin yesterday and saw a mob of teenagers by the Central Bank. One of them looked at me with what I can only describe as barely concealed murderous rage. The City has changed massively since I was a teen, and I no longer feel safe. Gone are those care free days I spent as a young lad, listening to the music of the cities streets, wandering around with nothing to do, nowhere to be and no money to spend. Law and order must be restored, send in the army and puts these feral louts down!
They’re children, not monsters. Send them home to mammy for a slap and a shower.

Just put these teenagers in a room with a real terrorist for 24 hours they’ll start making their bed and kissing their mothers in the morning.
But there is not exactly any place for them to go. Some but really, when i grew up we sat in a bunch of woods on an abandoned couch getting drunk…. there was no other place to go, activities, sport centres, nothing. If you went anywhere it was to the pub with the family. Im not a fan of the lil shits roaming the streets but when you put eggs in a pan don’t expect chocolate.
To be fair it’s a tradition no? I’m 35 and we loved hanging outside the shops. We weren’t shitheads though.

It’s not their fault, there is literally nothing for them to do in most suburbs. All they can do is loiter outside supermarkets and shopping centres.
I think everyone under the age of 18 should definitely be involved in some sort of sport regularly and other after school activities. Sports would definitely help kids maintain a healthy weight and give them something to look forward to.
The government should consider giving them a yearly credit towards group activities to keep them off the streets and focus their energy on something else.
Also antisocial behaviour should not be tolerated the way it currently is, but an idle mind is the devil’s playground. Unless you give them something to do, don’t be surprised if they are up to no good.

I PROPOSE….A STROKE OF GENIUS. The Greatest form of social engineering in the last 29 years has been the invention of PlayStation (1994) and the Xbox (2013)Just think of the trillions of hours wasted by feral youth on these things,rather than swarming a Spar or Centra and robbing everything in sight or stabbing someone to death during a mugging they are ensconced at home in front of their big telly trying to reach a new level on a game and long may they try! Is it not better to see them stuck in their own gilded cage playing meaningless games of their own volition than out on the streets,loitering like the very wastrels they are? This is why l propose an absolutely incredible idea,pursue the Social Engineering even further,FREE Xbox/PlayStation but PAID FOR BY THE TAXPAYER. Also FREE LIBRARY OF EVERY GAME and Yearly upgrades to newer models when they come out. Crazy? Not really,the Government could bulk buy and get massive discounts on hardware and games,to be eligible one simply must have a kid entering into his teens,say 12 and up,twelfth birthday he can go down to his local Gardai office and sign for either an Xbox or PlayStation and a library card for a Massive warehouse of EVERY GAME TITLE,…FREE. Paid for by the Tax Payer,also set up games leagues for the better kids,win cash prizes,bikes,etc Think of the time the youth would use up at home sitting on their arse playing games,unaware that we are keeping them in their “cool” prison Cell. I would happily pay more taxes to see a scheme like this,BEST PART? If any youth is cautioned for loitering or mugging etc then a two strikes you’re out system would be used. Second crime…All his games and PlayStation are permanently confiscated, NO APPEAL. I truly believe this would work and l may send this to Leo who l believe would listen to such a brilliant but simple idea. Anything to stop seeing young people loitering outside shops or menacingly standing at laneways etc,they must be stopped and put in their cage and we will all be much happier.
