It seems that Migri is automating stuff. Just from the recent days:
* 30.12. [Residence permits of people who have fled Ukraine will be automatically extended until 4 March 2024](https://migri.fi/en/-/residence-permits-of-people-who-have-fled-ukraine-will-be-automatically-extended-until-4-march-2024)
* 19.01. [Incomes Register makes it easier to prove your income as of 19 January 2023](https://migri.fi/en/-/incomes-register-makes-it-easier-to-prove-your-income-as-of-19-january-2023)
* 24.01. [You can ask about your right to work free of charge by email from 24 January 2023](https://migri.fi/en/-/you-can-ask-about-your-right-to-work-free-of-charge-by-email-from-24-january-2023)
*Are we approaching technological singularity? Or did the IT department make gym attendance mandatory, and now no one wants to argue with them?*
Jokes aside, I am really happy about these changes. I feel like Migri has a huge room for improvement and current wait times for some common applications are not OK. However, I’m still wondering why all of it happening now. Did they change management? Got more money? (not really, I read the yearly report, they are quite poor and unproductive)
Does anyone have insides on their internal operations?

Maybe it will look too obvious if they keep demanding random paperwork when they’re integrated into a system with real time info
I wonder if the permanent residence permit, which only needs proof of your current income (if grounds are “work”), will be processed MUCH faster (it’s 12-15 months now)
It is good if they are getting better, they have been really badly run or starved of resources. We need migrants, desperately. The better that system becomes, the better. And yes, that also means better and more humane vetting process.
