I’ve used a branch once in 18 years. I work for a bank.
They can’t close any more banks on *my* high street…
I’ve ditched the high street banks and do all my banking with Monzo and Starling now. Even before I changed over from HSBC (and TSB before that) it was getting more and more rare that I would use a branch. It seems a bit passé these days, although the older generation will likely still be relying on branches. I hope the branch staff affected by the closures will be offered alternative employment within the banks.
I don’t even know where my nearest branch is any more, they’ve shut the 3 closest ones, and now they’ve shut the post office too so I can’t even pay cash in.
This is inevitable, less and less people are using the branches and hopefully this means that post offices will be given more funding so they can take on some of those duties.
