Is it only me or most of the couples I know in Norway use 2 individual single duvets in their double bed?? I always had a big duvet for 2 people, never 2x single duvets. If you live in Norway, please enlighten me ๐๐

We are antisocial
I enjoy sleeping.
I imagine people with shared duvets are the same people who have shared facebook accounts. Some people do, but they are weird.
Individual ones are better in every way!
How about giving them 1 pillow than? ๐ Makes no sense, right? So why to torture guests with only 1 blanket? What is next? A toothbrush for 2? Couples are kissing, anyway:))
Well, Norwegian here, my ex preferred the big duvet so we used that, but to be fair she was French.
Yes. 2 separate is the norm. Lots of reasons why that is preferred, I would think.
Many have two separate mattresses, side by side, too. People have different preferences.
Me and my wife have crazy different heat output during the winter. I have to let out heat several times while she has an electric blanket to keep warm. Sharing a duvet isnโt really an option except during summer
Why share when you can have one each
Team double duvet here. edit: also no shared fb or instagram
2 duvets is the norm. No dragging the duvet
Two are the norm in Germany too and also in most other European countries I visited.
I want to know what you think about “cold bedrooms”.
It is common to not have heating in the bedroom, and have the window open, even in winter.
You all lie completely still and have the same heat output abroad? Crazy to have one duvet
One big comfy duvet
Who the hell shares duvets!?
Insane people?
The big duvet is uncommon
I guess in the whole of europe 2 duvets are standard?
because, i dont want my significant other to steal my blanket!
It’s pretty cold. So I like to wrap the duvet around myself so that I am lying in a cocoon. Also it’s very, very, very annoying when the other moves in their sleep and pulls the double duvet over to their side. I like to sleep when I sleep, not have to quarrel about getting the damn duvet back or waking up because I am lying without a duvet due to someone else’s nightly movements.
3 duvets here. Wife prefers to be boiled alive so she has two in the winter and I have one summer duvet in winter, and fuck all during summer.
of course! your individual need for warmth may differ you won’t get into any tugging contests, 2 duvets is the only way to go. Speaking as a Dutchman.
Huh, I did this when dating a Norwegian but didn’t know it was the norm here
Me and my wife have two big duvets. It’s glorious.
My Mormor always says key to happy marriage and life, is 1 bed with two duvets and if you can two mattresses. Itโs changed my life, I like a thick duvet and to cocoon my partner basically sleeps with a blanket. We went to a shop that has one of those sleep assessment things that recommends the best mattress for you, based on how you sleep and if you have any joint issues, etc we were both recommended very different mattresses so we got two single instead of a super king. And we both sleep so well, and we bought stuff that keeps them together so we still can cuddle etc and the mattresses donโt move around.
This is a thing in Iceland too. Iโm not from there (or Norway) but thatโs the first place I noticed it. Really convenient.
When there’s a – 10 degree breeze flowing through the room, having one big duvet that can be taken away from you is out of the question.
Iโm so intrigued by this. Does this mean you buy the same cover twice so they match? If youโre a single person do you keep the second one of the other side of the bed or do you just bring it out in case you have a visitor?
We switched to 2 individual duvets a few months ago after I read a similar thread about this and remembered how my grandparents used two. GAME CHANGER! Sleep is so much better now. Thank you, people of Norway! As a separate note, Americans often use a sheet in addition to the duvet, which I canโt stand.
2 duvets team here (not Norway).
Wife prefer to be in temp range between rotisserie chicken and roast beef.
I prefer the range between ice cream and cheesecake.
We tried to use one duvet it ended up on the floor because I was overheating always.
As with sleepingbags, females have a higher comfort temperature than males. Therefore its nice to be able to crawl away from the human furnace when needed.
I love in Norway. We have to big ones, 220×200. That just about does the trick ๐๐๐
We have two double. One each.
For sure two is the norm. So much better. You don’t have to risk waking up in the middle of the night, and having to wake up your SO because she took the whole thing in her sleep xD
Temperature control. Some like thick duvets, some like thin.
That damned gap that happens with a double duvet. Especially pesky during winter. With a single duvet you can burrito.
Peace. No waking up because your SO rolled over and took the duvet with them.
Nights are for sleeping. Cuddling and physical contact belongs to the “awake-sphere” of life.
Having grown up in the UK and shared many a double duvet with a romantic partner, and then lived in Norway for 16 years with single duvet bliss with my husband I can assure you that the Norwegian way is The Way. No more freezing cold tunnel between the pair of you! No more arguments over who is ‘hogging’ the duvet. Just the ability to cocoon yourself in your own duvet, tucking it underneath yourself on both sides and being snuggly warm. PLUS, when you want to snuggle with your boo, just pile one duvet on top of the other for utra snuggle warmth! It’s perfect, why would anyone do it any other way?
The girlfriend will steal the duvet if you only have one. This is the answer.
Wide duvets are for single people who sleep with legs out to the sides. 2x duvets are for couples who love eachother and want to keep it that way.
Who in their right mind would share a duvet???
Two different bedrooms here. Never going back ๐
One and half duvet, wife likes cotton sheet. She is extended family of frozen sisters
2 duvets!!
Most life changing moment from our honeymoon last summer was discovering two duvets. Brought it back to America and are now evangelizing the good word.
2 big duvets. 1 each
We use a huge duvet for 2
Me and my wife loves to cuddle and spoon through out the night, and we have a big duvet and loves it. Ofc sometimes I loose my part, but it’s never hard to get back and I usually sleep really well next to her
Itโs brilliant if you ask me. No way my partner can be a blanket hog if we each have our own! Love it ๐
Yes, this is normal. Also actual duvets, none of that blanket stuff that they use in some places โฆ
Have one double and one single. Somehow my gf still steals both.
