  1. > the great challenge to the alliance isn’t terrorism

Funny coming from a top officer from the organisation that invaded and committed war crimes in countries for some mid-sized terror attack by a non-state actor.

How the rhetoric has changed in no time.

Also, the article is a not one that aligns with its headline

    > At some point soon, some NATO members are going to begin asking, ‘If it is a choice between Sweden/Finland and Turkey, maybe we should look at our options.’ That would be a mistake. Turkey boasts the second-largest army in NATO, has important facilities including Incirlik Air Base, and hosts NATO’s overall land-warfare command in Izmir.

    Lol.

  2. I doubt that will happen since Turkey controls the Bosporus Strait, which allows them to contain the black sea fleet or prevent it from being reinforced.

While Turkey might be a bad ally, it still is an ally. Although with focus potentially shifting to the arctic ocean in the future this calculus might change.

  3. Nope, never gonna happen. Turkey is far too strategical – Bosfor and Dardanelles, Caucasus, Balcans, Middle East and near Suez Canal.
USSR blockade right after WW2 demanding turkish territories and its straights is way too fresh in memory.
