On January 24, 1736, in the Bashkir village of Khoyentoz (Seyantus), punishers killed more than 1,000 people and burned 105 alive. This event was the beginning of the colossal repressive policy of Russiа against the Bashkirs, because of which 800 thousand Bashkirs were killed in the 1740s.
