Why cut it there?
7 years since *England & Wales* voted not to be part of the EU.
You’d think yerwan would check to see how NI voted on Brexit before she opened her mouth, so unprofessional, like isn’t it her job to be up on all that kind of information, I would say that it is a fairly important distinction that NI did in fact vote to remain in the EU!
Well said mary Lou. When she’s taoisech though she’ll have to change how she speaks. She might be (is definitely) right in what she is saying here but brits hearing it will get defensive because of how she is delivering the message.
She waffles a bit but she cuts a distinct line to mark her out from the Taoibaggers soft shite. Also it can be said that she is looking very well, in good health and her image is good. Kay Burley is a Tory clown, don’t know how she’s there.
Au contraire
I know this is off topic, but Mary Lou is looking well. Looks healthier than she did 10 years ago.
Well said Mary Lou. Sky is no longer a Murdoch beast, but it’s still very much Tory in outlook.
Jayus, wouldn’t want to go into a meeting with Mary without having your facts straight, dropping the “au contraire” bombs
Succinct? Mary doesn’t really say anything in this interview, she rarely does.
Whatever about bring the north back into the republic. Northern Ireland is it’s own country and should be given the chance to go into the EU as a distinct country
Mary for Taoiseach
Live for the Day we have a politician of her calibre to finally represent the people of Ireland
Always knew Kay was what they call a fake journalist who towed the government Tory line. Extremely poor journalism.
Kay feckin Burley, can’t stand this yoke, always tryin to get an argument out of people anytime i happen to have sky news on in the morning,
surprised she didn’t try it on with Mary-Lou but this is only a short clip I’m sure she got argumentative at some stage
Greatly said by Mary Lou. Slight off topic but jesus isn’t it dire that there’s a bit at the top to tell you what major strikes are happening that day?
Sky news ugh 🤦🏻♂️ sure remember the other presenter Adam Boulton asked Simon Coveney if Ireland was embarrassed for holding up negotiations on withdrawal agreement simply because Ireland wanted to know wtf was going on and we wouldn’t accept a wink and a promise from Theresa May 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ Kay Burley has her moments but overall she’s a dope with instructions to go heavy on the little people and give politicians in England an easy ride during interviews often never following up when they don’t answer her questions, course if it was Mick Lunch or someone protesting for decent wages she’d throw obstacles at them and twist their words and act ignorant when hit with facts she prob did the same after what Mary Lou said didn’t see full interview
Wait a minute, a politician for once is actually saying what’s right
I wish she’d stop with the “ Northern Ireland didnt vote for brexit “ line. Like it or not Northern Ireland is part of the uk and brexit was uk-wide vote.
This isn’t going to end well, now we’re contributing 10s of millions and it will go up every year
We’re already broke!
Say what u want about Mary Lou but she is some woman to talk. I wouldn’t want to go up against her
She’s a cod
This is why I’m voting Sinn Fein you don’t see Michael Martin or Leo varadkar talking like this and honestly I’m so fed up over how this countries run that I’m willing to give another party a go because honestly they can’t do any worse at this point
(Just remember Michael Martin was talking about Bertie ahern for president not so long ago imagine one of the main people to cripple our economy becoming president it would be a slap in the face)
And it’s hilarious to see anytime there’s controversy with Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael they instantly go oh what about Sinn Fein, Sinn Fein bad we good! Oh why are they bad aren’t you the guys running the country into the ground they’re not the one in charge you can’t blame how everything is because of them
So yeah fuck it next election I’m voting for Sinn Fein because like I said I’m just happy to give someone else a try and see how they do
Not a fan of Sinn Fein, but I do like Mary Lou I have to say. She is a great public speaker. She was excellent during the abortion referendum too
is she a competent politician or am i subconsciously biased
Least slimey Irish politician by a country mile
Mary Lou Abú
Not a fan of hers, but she did well there.
She brings up an excellent point at the end. The Northern Ireland protocol was a compromise chosen by the UK to finalize brexit. Yes, it’s not great but it was the least bad of three options: Hard land border, sea border, or UK stays within EU borders. Their seemingly willingness to break an international agreement if their own making simply signals to the rest of the world that they are untrustworthy. What kind of image is that for a Global Britain?
When was this. Anyone got a link to the full interview?
There’ll be a run on hand lotion and tissues on r/Ireland this evening.

What I had a problem with was every year the eu seemed to take more and more control and power over every country and it was getting to the point where we couldn’t have left if we wanted to. I remember when they were trying to make us us the euro but we were like urm no.
Kay would leave your balls back soft
Like her or hate her. She usually speaks like this, she so often comes across so well
It feels odd seeing someone talk about a view that a media company does not like and not get cut off part way through.
Weekly Reddit Mary-Lou wank post
British Military upper brass warned of the consequences, the PM’s advisers warned him of it…
…but the last thing the tories&co wanted, was to win that referendum.
The decision was made – made – to not campaign against Brexit in any way that drew attention to the GFA etc
In law, this would not be considered recklessness, but intentional as they could reasonably foresee the harm.
G’waaan, Mary, give it to that gowl.
Yup Mary Lou
Politician for “you done fucked up”
u/savevideobot
On de mary✊
The funny thing is that isn’t even in the top 5 of times Burley was owned ha. The Mick Lynch and Chris Bryant ones are my personal favourite!
So refreshing to see someone sensible on sky news for once
Some of the comments here are beyond bizarre. I never thought I’d see the day where Irish voters developed a cult of personality around a politician. In the 25 odd years of voting I’ve never viewed Irish politicians in anything but a mildly cynical light, no matter what their background or political leaning. This thread is just one massive circle jerk.
