    > Poland will ask the EU for compensation for the cost of Leopard 2 tanks it wants to send Ukraine, the Polish prime minister said on Tuesday.
    >
    > “We will apply for reimbursement to the European Union, it will be another test of goodwill,” Mateusz Morawiecki told a news conference.

    > Morawiecki said that he hoped there would be a quick response from Germany over whether Warsaw can re-export the tanks, Reuters reports. “I hope that this answer from Germany will come quickly, because the Germans are delaying, dodging, acting in a way that is difficult to understand.

It’s from the Guardian war live feed, and at the time of posting, this piece is pinned at the top. Later you may need to scroll down a bit to see it.

  2. Dear Poland, you wanted your propaganda moment and you got it. Now when it’s time to pay the tab, that’s also yours!

  3. Is Poland trying to get, amongst others, German funds through the EU to pay for these tanks they are giving to Ukraine ?

  4. Honestly, I’m a little bit perplexed by this, especially considering that they’re about to replace their MBTs with their own and/or Abrams.

But if they want to replace them with Leo2s, I think it would make sense to give them incentives to replace them.

Not a stupid demand, but I understand why people are getting tired with the Polish government.

  5. Ah, yes, EU funds blocked because of judicial “reform” so now the Polish government is trying to get some money through other ways. Definitely getting that impression.

  6. I think somebody needs to send the PiS party a dictionary so that look up the word called „Donate“

I seriously hope that my Polish friends kick these clowns out in the next elections

  7. PiS fuck off you imbeciles. it’s like 14 tanks. It’s like one month of bonus pension payments you are planning to introduce you morons.

  8. Poland: “Germany is so bad for not sending tanks!!!”

Also Poland: “Germany can you please foot the bill for the tanks I sent?”

  9. Zoom out and we’re back to square one: Poland is still breaking the rule of law and is consequently barred from receiving lots of EU funds it/PiS needs in an election year. Remember the CJEU decided in February 2022 that Poland is in breach of foundational norms of the Union (same as Hungary). They are also increasing their Defense budget with no means to pay for it, so all this posturing in the end will come down to money Poland doesn’t have. In that regard German blundering (on the PR front) is a godsend to them.
Doesn’t change the fact that there is a lot of rightful anger in MCEU with Germany.

  10. The antiPolish stance of this sub is hilarious. There is a EU fund created to refund the aid send to Ukraine by member countries.

Every country submits invoices documenting the aid send to Ukraine, that’s what Poland is doing now. It will be later decided how much each country will get.

Will Poland be reimbursed for all the aid sent? Of course not, because even right now aid sent by Poland exceeds the value of the fund
