I need top quality precision tools for kitchen fitting. I mainly need big mitre saw, table saw with solid bed, plunge saw, dust extraction and a jigsaw.
I’ve been looking for 2 days and have been reading loads but i can’t figure out which tools are diy quality and which are precision trades quality.
Is there a brand you’d recommend sticking with? My tools right now are mainly metabo (their mitre saw is shit) and a mix of cheap screwfix stuff like erbauer and titan shite.
I need some precision because I’m making several cuts just to get something right and it’s making jobs take too long, I’m ready to invest in some very good tools. [Here is a list i put together on screwfix,](https://i.imgur.com/kOOVX2V.jpg) how does this look? Also do you have an Irish site you’d recommend over screwfix? Or a business that does a good deal if you buy a lot together?

I’ve always found McQuillans good to deal with in that regard. Great for advice too.

Always shocking customer service from Screwfix, I don’t know if they changed but they used to send everything from their UK warehouse regardless of if you ordered from the Irish site.

Edit : may be worth asking over in r/woodworking. If you’re taking this up as a business I believe Festool are considered just about the best. Some of the other brands are very good as well but may be more geared towards construction.

  2. Milwaukee tools. Not cheap but a lot of trades people seem to have moved from DeWalt to Milwaukee in the last decade or so. Their tools seem decent to me for the limited use I’ve had.

  3. Hitli and Festool are almost always going to be trade quality. But price will match that.

DeWalt would be 50:50, same with Milwuakee, Makita, and Metabo. As in some of their products would be prosumer grade where heavy usage will see them break quickly.

I’m not sure how true this is, but I’ve heard that the tools you’ll see in Screwfix will typically be slightly cheaper versions of what you’ll find elsewhere similar to what you’d find in Woodies or B&Q where yes, they have the brand names but the models are slightly different because they’re made for a cheaper market.

I know Caulfield Industrial are a fairly reputable seller.

I’ve been rocking this bad boy since 2013. Hasn’t skipped a beat.

Blades are cheap (I use Diablo ones mostly) and freely available, unlike festool.

Light weight, small, but still has a large enough cutting capacity that it’s rarely an issue.

My mate runs festool gear and his mitre saws have been off for repairs 3 times in the same period. Each repair cost more than my saw cost to buy brand new.

  5. Titan is absolute fucking rubbish. I’ve moved from DeWalt to Makita with my DIY tools. Milwaukee are without a doubt the best for tradies.

If you’re buying that much gear in Screwfix ask if they’ll give you a discount. Managers have the discretion to give 10% on large orders. Source: I work in Screwfix.

  6. I would stay away from 240v as most sites are 110v and you would be unable to use them. Everything seems to be going battery powered now.

Although I personally prefer Makita dewalt stuff is fine, festool is top spec can’t really go wrong with it although it is that bit more expensive. The track saw is good I have the Makita battery version and it’s brilliant. The dewalt table saw is the best around also.
