What nonsense…labour councils up and down the country have been granted billions in leveling up funding…and they are pissing it away on vanity projects..my local labour run council in oldham has had nearly £100m in leveling up funding so far and they are using it to redesign part of the town center,they bought a shopping center and turned half of it into council offices,funding for a urban farm that no one asked for and refurbing old, neglected council owned building..

    To me that’s not what leveling up means.

    Even as the whole country crumbles under lack of investment in public services, cost of living crisis and an economy that is shrinking. Good to know that the Tories will always stick to their core values, corruption and plutocracy.

  7. It’s just how that nonce said in that interview about leveling up, when asked about a timeframe for when this would be applied said, “In around 2 years”.

    There’s me like, “Oh, so leveling up only counts during an election period”.

    What are they planning to do with 20m?

    Turn the market hall into a food hall.

    Fuck sake people are broke here as it is. They don’t have enough to sit and munch away.

    Ironically I wouldn’t be surprised if the contract for this renovation was done by the mp’s father who owns a building firm.

  11. All three levelling up bids in Nottingham have been rejected, one for revitalising the partially demolished shopping centre!

    Bet it’s because we have a labour council?

    Then we find out 1/3 of the funding has gone on to London and the South East? What’s the point of levelling up deprived areas to the standard of the south east, when they get proportionally more than the rest of the country!

  12. The only thing being levelled up in the northeast is the levels of child poverty, food insecurity and wide spread suffering among the people here.

  15. Levelling up was just another slogan for the Tories to chuck out at elections in return for votes in marginal/disaffected areas. It’s no different from their Northern Powerhouse promise from a few years back. It meant nothing and anyone with common sense could tell you it would lead to anger from those who suddenly realised they were lied to. They will do the same at the next election too; people will fall for it again too.
