People underestimate the geopolitical importance of Ukraine just by sheer size alone. Not only does much of the world’s grain come from there, but also raw materials and resources for the manufacturing of chips and other critical industry. It’s a big prize for Putin that will embolden Russia to take shots against the Baltics next.

*”Without Ukraine, Russia ceases to be an empire, but with Ukraine suborned and then subordinated, Russia automatically becomes an empire”* – Zbigniew Brzezinski

*”The aggressor country, Russia, will not stop having conquered one country. If it swallows us, it will go further.” Ukrainian soldiers in Bakhmut say Ukraine is merely ‘the very first shield for the whole of Europe.’*

  2. Austria and Switzerland – I see you sitting there quietly in the middle. Getting the benefits with no membership costs.

  3. Bosnia will not happen soon because half of the country does not want it. Ukraine and Georgia have territories occupied by Russia, so also takes some time before it can happen. I’d be in favor of NATO expansion though.

  4. I don’t like word ,,expansion”. It suggests that NATO actively look for new members and build some kind of empire – this is how russia portray it.

NATO don’t look for a new members. Every single NATO member is part of it, because it willingly looked for its protection from a bully, mainly russia. NATO does not need to do anything to attract new countries to join. It’s something russians will never understand, always living in their paranoya about expanding NATO. And by the way, keep in mind that they oppose NATO ,,expansion” not because they feel threatened but because they want to have free hand in spreading its influence to neighbour states.
