Does anyone know why (and how) NRK uses Nintendo switch controllers?

  1. Been watching the Vestlandsrevyen with my GFs family, and I’m the only one that noticed. I can’t think of any application they could be using but it’s definitely a Switch controller. Would love some answers!

  2. Connecting switchcontrollers directly to computer with BT is really easy. Just hold in the small connect button on the controller and it pops up on the BT list. I guess it works as good as any BT remote kontroller🤷

  3. Are you certain they are switch controllers?

A popular type of tool that is used for presentations etc are presentation remotes (such as [Logitech R400](https://www.logitech.com/no-no/products/presenters/r400-wireless-presenter.910-001356.html), just as an example), very common for controlling things such as slide shows etc. There are probably hundreds of different models out there, I wouldn’t be surprised if they could be mistaken for swtich controllers.

That said, I haven’t watched the program so it could be it’s obviously a switch controller when you watch it.

  4. How can you tell its a switch controller? By those low res images :p

I dont belive that when they 100% have plenty that came with the teleprompter they have / third party that makes more sense to use thats «plug n play».

I have a switch, cant say this reminds me of anything else than a normal teleprompter controller. Yes they are probably The same size ect but not all 2 hand controllers are a PlayStation controller either.

  5. It’s the controller to control the teleprompter. It’s literarily just a way to scroll up or down if they miss their cue or misspeaks. I can guarantee you it is not a switch controller tho it may look like it. It has its own little docking station to charge and more often than not it doesn’t connect to the dock and there is no backup in the studio. If it was a Nintendo product it would not have gone through to full scale production with an issue like that.

The actual speed of the teleprompter is controlled by a computer that based on which newscaster is logged in speech pattern. So the handheld controllers is just there as a fail safe if something goes wrong.

  6. In the 3rd picture I think it doesn’t look rounded enough at the bottom, it looks like it has “sharp” corners

  7. It’s the meteorologists who use them to switch screens when telling the weather forecast. You can see them clicking and the map slideshow changes.
