Obesity rates… i’m surprised LU is that high up.

  1. Why?

A country, where everyone gets a driving licence and a car at 18, is surely not one where health is a priority 😉

Even our national sports are played in bars without too much movement 😂

  2. where are the obese people?
i haven’t seen a single one this whole year XD
i don’t think this is accurate lol

i doubt eating few too many sugar coated deep fried boxemännescher will turn you obese for the new year, even if it might feel like it XD

  3. Well, it is a typical first world problem and although most users in this subreddit pretend otherwise, the vast majority have a lot of spendable income and (supermarket) food is very cheap compared to the meridian income. I know for a lot of people life is hard but this is the case in every country on earth. Also it doesn’t helps that we have 530.858 cars in a country of 640.064 people of which 20% not of legal age therefore only 512.051 in the age range to drive a car.

  4. “as a percentage of total adult population”

With 650K total population you don’t need many to get a high percentage.

  5. You are joking right? Luxembourg has food delivery extreme. Million restaurants everywhere. All my friends stressed at work pound junk food when they get home. You can literally eat a hamburger nearly anywhere in Luxembourg. So much butter and fat in traditional foods here. Ohhh mam:-) This country just eats and eats and eats until supermarkets are empty.

  6. Are these stats still measuring weight by BMI? Because following the BMI set lines almost every above average lifter and heavy lifting related athletes are going to be categorized as obese or at least overweight

  7. Kids do look way bigger for their age lol or its just my asian eyes…but having lived in austria & switzerland I could see stark difference in how it has raised here in Lux post covid

  8. See, this is because we’re a small country. All that weight brought in from frontaliers is being statistically represented by the few people actually living here, so obviously the statistics is skewed.

It’s always like that with statistics, I learnt that here 🙂

  9. And this is obesity. You actually need to be quite fat to be obese. This is no joke, it is a public health disaster in the making. All these people are gonna be needing more and more healthcare as they age.

  10. I mean technically I count as obese with 103 kg and 180cm if you only look at the data. That there is like 45kg muscles is unimportant to the BMI that calculates the obesity.
