Unpopular opinion: The government and its administrations should systematically exercice their preemption rights on existing social housing whenever they are put on the market to maintain an increasingly large portfolio of social housing.
It’s also good that they have embraced leaseholds so that the government remains the owner of the land.
As a trained architect/ urban planner, development here in Lux is quite daunting to say the least. 5 years ago they started working on the building next to the old delhaize in Esch & untill now just the frame has come up lol & all the material (Insulation, steel rods etc) are left exposed to rain. The posters have unrealistic renders like which the building would never look like 😂 but the same firm is awarded 3 more buildings in esch itself! I think Lux should not copy from Germany & france as they have more space to build but rather innovate & look into investing on a different land use policy! Bauhaus & other post war strategies wont work here & for ffs stop building office/ commercial spaces for firms which dont even exist here in the city & gentrify tf outa it lol create a balanced development across the whole country sp that the incoming population could spread easily I think Lux real estate is just on life support & could kick off anytime creating chaos
