It was a DDoS attack by 10 million Evri customers trying to see if Royal Mail could help them locate their missing parcels.
TLDR;
Royal Mail have been subject to a cyber attack that has prevented custom labels being printed and export letters and parcels suspended.
Suspected ransomware, however Royal Mail will not comment as this would be “detrimental to their investigation”.
not that devastating if you’re currently only getting post +or- every ten days
Not sure how this isn’t getting much, much more coverage. It has crippled exporting literally anything via Royal Mail (who essentially have a monopoly on letters and small parcels) overseas for over a week now.
Many small businesses who were already hurting from the 2022 strikes and bad service will be killed off by this and Royal Mail aren’t giving any indication when it might get fixed.
I have heard access credentials were gained for their network via phishing attacks – why are Royal Mail not using MFA for their Internet facing systems?
Sounds like ransomeware. One employee opening a dodgy attachment really shouldn’t be able to take out something so critical for such a long time. When this happens and takes this long to get going again, I always wonder what their backup strategy is.
Test your backups! It seems frightfully common to have backups but never run through actually restoring from them.
Our postman said it was Russian, not sure if speculation within the postal team or if confirmed
UK population confirms nobody noticed because they were shit already
Worth talking to the white hat community, concensus is they did it to themselves to launder money and quite a few companies are doing the same if nobodies noticed, its willing incompetency supposedly so they can liquify assets into cbdc and absolve all services into a few major companies by 2025.
Considering the software issues that led to loads of post office workers being jailed, fined and sacked they’re pretty well versed in getting screwed.
anyone know if this is going to be sorted soon as its causing me absolute chaos ?
Wife’s business has decided to bin RM. With the strikes causing the busy season to be ruined and now this, they won’t be getting her business anymore. Its that or shut up shop
And still there is no word on when this will be fixed….
I’m guessing elections are going to be done by mail like in the U.S.
