Fair play to the men for taking a pay cut. Unfortunately its not about inequality its about fans through turnstyles and tv and sponsorship deals.
Its a “draw” industry.
By the same logic why are male football players paid more than rugby players?
There’s an episode of Peaky Blinders where Jessie Eden is trying to get Tommy to give equal pay to his female factory workers. He counters by cutting the men’s pay to restore the “sacred fucking parity”.
He was supposed to be the bad guy in that scene lol. Weird to see it being framed as good news in real life.
With the national teams the pay is largely a token amount anyway. England’s male players donate it to charity and it’s something like £2,000 a game so nothing compared to their actual earnings.
this feels very much like a token. Club football is where this gets tricky.
Men, who bring the majority of interest and money in just getting fucked by this.
I’d be cutting the men’s wages after their World Cup performances tbf
Fuck giving the money to the women why not just donate the amount to charity instead it’s a fucking token amount to them anyway
