Council tax goes up every year. Fares go up every year. Food prices go up every year etc.
This is almost a non-story, except the increases are above wage increases and the government are stealing from the workers …

My local metro is looking to increase from £3.90 to £4.30 so over 10% and the council is looking to raise council tax by 2.99% or 4.99%
This is non story regarding London.
London has to be having its own special cost of living crisis doesnt it

LONDONERS OUTRAGED THAT THEY MIGHT HAVE TO START PAYING MORE MONEY AS COSTS INCREASE, JUST LIKE THE UNCIVILISED BABARIANS WHO LIVE OUTSIDE THE M25
I am not advocating in favour of Council Tax or TfL fares rising or falling. I am making an observation about *where* the price hikes originate. Londoners have to keep up with the Private Sector price rises because the Private Sector has ceased to take part in any reasonable market mechanism and simply takes rents for *everything* really. This means that there is less money available for non-Private Sector price rises. You cannot pay your Council Tax because the Private Sector is imposing costs without negotiation. It has nothing much to do with the London Councils and all to do with businesses that, in order to increase profit this year, have to cut into your cash allocated to things other than their product or service.
High price for rubbish service. People should start travelling by bike and live in the van.
