Highest value High-quality land is in Kildare at €15,350 and highest value Low-quality land is in Louth at €9,125. Likely due to suitability to tillage in Kildare and strength of dairy farming in the latter price for Louth.
Across the board Leinster has some of the highest priced particularly the fertile GDA but also the golden vale land of central Munster also showing strong valuations as well.
As a shameless jackeen I know bugger all about farm land pricing.
What dictates the value?
Is it all down to productivity, soil quality, how level the land is, drainage, accessibility etc….
Or is location as important as it is with residential value?
Like, if there were two identical plots, would the fact that one is in Longford and not Mayo mean it’s inherently worth more?
Is the colouring of the Donegal prices mixed up or do people really want to buy barren land up there?
‘Ah, finally, I’ve bought a beautiful plot of farmland in West Galway. I wonder of what marvellous things I can grow here’.
* Plants shovel in ground and instantly hits rock *
‘Oh, that must be an unlucky spot, let me try again’.
* plants shovel in 1,000 areas, hits rock each time *
Any reason it excludes Dublin. There is some very fertile land for farming crops in the North of the county
That’s all well and good for sheep, but what are we to do?
Are we just not going to mention how the fleshy colours selected for NI basically turns lough Neagh into a sphincter.
Dublin: “If you have to ask, you can’t afford it.”
Longford has a mighty jump between the two prices
Cavan should be priced per litre
Try buy land in a few months after Coilte bring in the vulture funds, 123000 acres… I’m no conspiracy theorist but fuck me it seems like everything possible is being done to stop future land and home ownership in this country
And the second it is rezoned its worth 10 times that…🤦🏻♀️
