Corruption around the world: Europe is low when comparing to other continents!

  1. This is corruption *perception* . Countries can be more corrupt than people realise. With the way money plays into politics, particularly after Citizens United, I’d argue the US is more corrupt than people think.
    How do you define corruption?

  2. Is this day to day corruption, so having to bribe officials to get somewhere or is this large scale corruption like companies bribing politicians (aka “lobbying”)?

  3. Living in a solid yellow country (I come from an orange one) and still hearing constantly “this is the most corrupt place on earth”.

Which is probably the reason for the low corruption: No one gets a break from suspicion, which is awesome to keep checks on local authorities, politicians and low-level tax-evasion.

  4. Hungary orange in 2018… yeah, right. Well, it can’t be corrupt if the government operates like a kleptocracy, can it? This map wasn’t accurate even in 2018, much less after the 57th repost murdering it’s bitrate.
