Denmark plans compulsory military conscription for women, as the country seeks to significantly boost the size of its armed forces.
The move can help Denmark meet its requirements under its NATO membership but it would also be “beneficial” for the military if it had more women employed, Jakob Ellemann-Jensen, the country’s defense minister and deputy prime minister, said in an interview with broadcaster TV2.
Currently, women can join on a voluntary basis while men generally are required to serve if they are called on under a lottery system.
If you’re going to do conscription this is the way to go.
mandatory service is never a good solution unless we’re talking very brief periods of time that don’t interrupt an otherwise normal life.
I’m sure this will be hugely popular and uncontroversial. And that people will understand the need for conscription given Denmarks threatening and unhinged neighbours 🇩🇪 🇸🇪 🇳🇴.

F#ck military conscription, I can understand it in places like Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, Korea etc., but Denmark??? Wouldn’t it be easier to abolish it altogether? Canada or Germany aren’t gonna attack you.
