In Dublin, Ireland, people say “that’s gas” for something that is funny (don’t know if this is universal English phrase), but that’s gas.
In my brain I wonder how much Putin took these obvious things into consideration before the war.
He gambled and he lost.
Maybe a stupid question, but… if the EU slowly phased out Russian gas after the invasion of Crimea in 2014, doesn’t that mean Russia would have had 8 years to shift its capacity steadily from Europe to China and we would have had zero leverage over their gas exports now?
I know this is a very emotional topic. I don’t want to start a shit slinging contest. I really mean this question. Because I’ve never seen this being discussed anywhere.
Gas is just a drop for Russia, oil is more important.
