Fraud Conviction Appears to Reveal Russian Troop Deployment in East Ukraine – The Moscow Times

  1. TL;DR: the court mentioned “supply to Russian military units that are dispatched in DPR and LPR” in the decision. Kremlin denied it and said “it might be a mistake”

  2. So, presumed amount of food supplies was like 1300 tons biweekly or 92 tons a day. So if we imagine that daily ration is like two kilograms of stuff there must be 46 thousand men there.

It’s a bit silly calculation, can be off couple of times to one or another side. But gives you order of magnitude.

And fucking Russian Pinocchios pretended that Donetsk is held by locals, he he.

  3. Early on in the conflict Russia started sending supply convoys to the separatist republics. Those are probably still ongoing and Russia is probably still funding those. If it’s food or basic supplies Russia has been open about supplying those. It wouldn’t surprise me if the army is picking up the bill for those supplies. So overall this doesn’t seem like much in terms of news.

Separately from that though, some pretty advanced weapon systems have been spotted in the separatist republics. Russia is pretty obviously supplying those but denies doing so. The separatist republics have pretty massive armies for their size, it’s impossible for them to keep them supplied and funded without Russia’s support.

  4. Right in the face of those who pretend that “Donbas are mainly locals, but sometimes russian army comes in” liars who frequent this sub.

Laughable small time corruption scandal as well.

(This way of life is what Ukraine started to turn away from in 2014)

    >The U.S. RFE/RL news organization estimated that the bi-weekly supplies of 1,300 tons of products mentioned in the court documents would feed around 26,000 Russian troops.

    >The defendant, identified as V.N. Zabaluev, deputy regional manager for military nutrition of the local company “Tekhnologiya,” admitted to have bribed officials up to four times in 2019. RFE/RL’s Russian bureau Svoboda reported, citing the verdict, that there may be other companies engaged in supplying Russian troops in eastern Ukraine with food.

    >The court sentenced Zabaluev to five years in prison on charges of transferring 990,000 rubles ($13,500) from his boss to a military epidemiological official to gain favor with the authorities and avoid disruptions in the supply chain.
