Make sure you have a backup job in case you get sacked for this. Legally it would be gross misconduct, which means the job centre can and WILL sanction you before you even get a penny.
Edit: Nice little loophole I found. Sure they can want you to work while on strike, do barest min you can possibly get away with, don’t put any effort in, don’t go above and beyond, don’t do any over time, don’t anyone do else’s job for them.
I wonder if there are enough staff in the DWP who can strike in order to show this is an utter farce?
Just work to rule, most public sector services will fall apart.
Sweet we will work to rule instead. See what happens when you run a buisness on good will that then loses that good will.
They really don’t get why this is stupid and will backfire.
Organised strikes are a compromise, banning them in such a fashion is just going to lead to wildcat strikes and more nefarious forms of industrial action.
Strikes and collective negotiations were drummed up several hundred years ago as an alternative to kicking the foreman’s door in, in the middle of the night, and lynching him in front of his family.
Some people may want to remember that.
I wonder if anyone of those MPs has visited a Holocaust museum and read the pathway to fascism that is displayed on its walls. Suppressing unions is right up there on the wall and they’re willing to do that to their own people.
Man the French strikers throw petrol bombs at police and people in this country get their hour of hate out over people slow walking.
Embarrassing.
Thats alright. The unions will just have to get creative. Trains-dont check tickets or even sell tickets just let riders on for free. Teachers- show up and just sit behind the desk and let the kids run amock. NHS- clock in and straight to the breakroom for 10 hrs. If they can make you work, they cant make you do a good job.

The provincial government in Ontario, Canada passed asimilar law to stop education workers from striking… so the education workers went on strike. The law was repealed. https://labornotes.org/2022/11/general-strike-threat-beats-ontario-anti-worker-law
