Found this while cleaning today. To any coin collectors/enthusiasts, are these worth anything or am I waisting my time looking into it? Also what’s the best way to clean coins. They look pretty cool all the same.
If I remember when this coin was first issued, and then withdrawn, does that make me old too?
*cries in denial•
From what I seen on various shows ya don’t clean coins you’ll only damage them. That being said it’s a punt it’s not worth your time. Even the millennium punt is only worth it’s exchange value iirc. There’s not a great market for Irish coins.
About the same as £1, plus a sprinkling of nostalgia…
You don’t even show the reverse to see the year. Practically everyone’s saved their millennium coins. I’ve a small leather bag full of old Irish coins. Rarity and uncirculated is the biggest factor.
When I was kid I stole my dad’s uncirculated decimalisation collection of coins circa 1971 I think to buy sweets in the local shop.
This is fake; nothing existed before the EU. It’s very similar to the big bang. Just a bunch of peoples standing about and then BANG, the EU.
The sound of old money jingling in your pocket is lovely. Punt and the 10p were beauts.
Twas a noble coin, you’d know it if you had a punt in your pocket.
if you’d a few of them as a child they’d get ya alot of chocolate, world cup year too, if ya have one of those in your pocket and someone shoots ya, it’ll stop the bullet
That’s not old you cheeky little shit. Sure they were only released in 1990.
Drill a hole in it and a bit of string and you’ve got a nice necklace for an Xmas pressie.
Honestly wish I kept like a collectors display of old irish coins
