Hi,

I hope I find the right place to help me. I ordered today 5kg of Entrecote steak from one butcher shop . They mention on the site that the meat is from Latvia originally. However, it doesn’t look like the entrecote cut at all. I called back to the shop to ask, and they kept telling me that they deliver the right part of the meat. They explained to me that the cut is from a small cow in Latvia, and it doesn’t have any fat. I wasn’t really satisfied with his explantion. I want to come to the shop tomorrow to ask for a refund, but I need more concrete information. I hope someone from this sub can help me to confirm if this entrecote is normal in Latvia.

Photos of the cut I got can be found from here:

Thanks in advance

  1. I’m not an expert but is there any reason to believe Latvian entrecote could look different than the comonly known one? We don’t have neither some special species of pigs, neither special traditions about growing them nor any different climate than surrounding region so if it doesn’t look right to you then it most probably isn’t.
