They are causing business stress so that the new Charter cities and free ports look inviting… businesses will move there, lower taxes, deregulation of employee rights etc…its been written about for years…its how wealth stays put with the wealthy….its all been done before, it was a method of the East India co.

I just don’t understand how we’re at this point where the government is actively letting the country go to ruin.. it almost feels like they’ve reached a “deer in the headlights” moment in so much as everything is on fire thanks to their just grotesque levels of incompetence and dreadful decisions over the last decade, and don’t actually know the way out.
It isn’t baffling if you let go of the idea that the Tories want what is best for the country and its people. They are “wrecking trade” to force a crisis so they can pass legislation out of manufactured desperation.
Everyone knew it was a terrible idea aside from my cousin and his family. They were firmly in support and insisted it was the smart thing to do. Caught up with him recently and he’s managed to get Portuguese passports from his wife for the whole family.

I wonder how much this ex-tory MP gets paid. Amazing to see all the people on this sub who mainly identify as left-leaning Labourites siding with a rich tory. Sorry to tell you this, but he does not have your best interests at heart. His goal is corporate profit to pay to his shareholders.

All the old people or poor people who voted are going to start dying off over the next few years.
People are already dying from hypothermia because they can afford to warm their house, with tons of people getting sick from mould in their house.
The conservatives can never accept the catastrophe that was Brexit and Labour is terrified of the media using any mention of reunification with the EU to torpedo their chances in the next election. So, our two major parties are paralysed into inaction while the countries, trade, manufacturing and exports are all handicapped into irrelevance.
What if we had a party that had one and only one policy, reunification with the EU and it undertook to dissolve parliament and itself as soon as that goal was achieved. All decisions on issues other than reunification would be made on a caretaker basis only.
Just a reminder that a major part of Brexit hasn’t happened yet.
This is performing Import checks, thats right! the EU checks outgoing stuff and we do not currently check the incoming.
This is due in 2024 and will cause a massive inflation spike.
It already has, it will only get worse as time goes on. It will only become more apparent as the government fails to get trade deals that are even remotely good compared to what we had. It turns out we have less to offer when we lack free trade with a large portion of Europe, something that was painfully obvious before the Brexit vote, let alone now.
