  1. Of course he did. This should be illegal with jail or at least serious consequences for both sides. Our system is corrupt and needs lots of improvement.

  2. In the Civil Service, money given by companies hoping to influence government decisions is known as a ‘bribe.’ There’s rather a lot of training material about it, in fact.

  3. We laugh at the corruption of other countries like in South America, but we have to be one of the worst in the world in recent years.

  4. Corruption every day from these lot, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. Conservatives are just there for themselves and to preserve and enrich their lifestyles.

I wonder how many MPs would have been sacked if they faced the same level of discipline as any other industry? Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s half of them.

  5. The same people who have been hushing up climate change since the 60s? Shocking. I’d be surprised if they were *not* donating to whoever was in charge of spearheading green initiatives.

  6. its the way, why else would you be a tory mp if its not for the bribes?

they should all be done for treason if there was any justice in this country

  7. This is accepted in our political system. The whole thing needs to be radically reformed or else it will just continue no matter what party is in power.

  8. They should rename all ‘donations’ to politicians to what they essentially are – ‘bribes’.

If anyone donates to a politician or political party, it should have to be done anonymously so that politicians are not swayed one way or another because of financial gains they get, and can remain impartial. Not end up in the pocket or major companies/corporations.

And if someone can afford to donate thousands, if not tens or hundreds of thousands, they can most definitely afford to pay higher taxes and not feel it.

  9. Thank god the peasants know what price we can buy MPs and Ministers. If only we can pay them to think about climate instead. Those poor, malnourished and underpaid MPs/Ministers !

  10. why is this legal?

If I got a speeding ticket and gave a police officer money to erase the ticket that would be called “bribery” and illegal – yet when the rich accept bribes that’s just “lobbying” and some of the perks.

  11. There is not a single trustworthy Tory. Not one. They are all in it for them. And that’s to be expected because that’s their life view – look after number one and screw everyone else. Can you imagine being so selfish? It’s completely alien to me

  12. This should be illegal.

But look at it like Labour who have funded by the unions for decades. The unions influence policy when Labour are in power so that could be deemed corruption by anyone else against Labour.

So the bad thing is, it works poorly everywhere and is so ingrained into politics wherever you are in the world

  13. Remember thatcher gave Jimmy saville an office and ward keys in a kids hospital? Tories do strange things.
