I wonder

  1. No.

She talks about it in her book, which is very good btw.

For her it was a hangover from her predecessor. He was well known, so the media basically treated her the same, which made her a household name and face.

The news now no longer show you the pathologist arriving at the seen like they used to with and her predecessor.

  2. Retired state pathologist. She may have tired of plain white coveralls, needed a bit more glamour to make it on reddit.

  3. She was a prominent pathologist in Scotland and i think she is the inspiration for dr Scarpeta in the Patricia Cornwall novels. So quite prominent befor le working in Ireland

  4. As a young one I remember hearing about girl power from the spice girls but seeing it through Marie Cassidy because the woman went from one murder scene to another. During the violence of the 90s and early 2000s she was working mostly alone and working very hard. Can’t imagine the things she’s seen or has to had to deal with so I’m delighted to see she’s happy and thriving.

  5. First we aren’t overflowing with “regular” celebrities but I think it is important that people with important jobs like this get highlighted.

Imagine were we would be if we celebrated scientists and engineers they way we celebrate Colin Farrell or whoever.

  6. it’s something to do with how rare murders are in Ireland? Each murder is a newsworthy event. One individual “state pathologist” turns up for the weeklyish murder, is mentioned in the media because there’s not actually a lot to say about the incident.

Bump the numbers up to a couple of murders a day, each one will be a line in a news report if that, there’ll be a team of pathologists to investigate and no-one except weirdos will know their names.

  7. I’m actually delighted for her.

That woman has seen some messed up stuff so it kind of gives me hope that she can still find joy in something as trivial as dancing.

She’s a super smart lady too so a great role model for the young ladies watching.

  8. you can be anything and famous.. it can be linked to what you do for a living or have no connection what so ever

in the same vein i find it very sad when someone uses a job as their whole identity and also get judged like it is

too many posts that gain so much traction because its a policeman listening to rap or something like that. people acting amazed that these people do not fit in neat and tidy little boxes we have made for them

  9. She is a boss- google Paul Holes the ex cold case investigator that tours the us and is a guest speaker at crime conventions

  10. There’s many politicians going on reality shows in UK (Ed Balls on Strictly, Anne Widdecombe on Big Brother, Matt Hancock on I’m a Celeb), don’t think it’s too unusual compared to that.
