Lithuania and Gabrielius really stirred some shit with China and honestly I am proud of that dude. Finally he has balls to do something that no one else had.
Imagine being so pissed about small country in Europe, that you need to pressure German company to stop using Lithuanian components. What’s next? Maybe China will say that Lithuania doesn’t exist anymore? So pathetic
Can we cut out China instead?
Unfortunately, I can confirm this.
Germany has beer and shnitzel they arent afraid of Xi Xinping and his not very fun communist party poopers
Confirm what? China said stop, Continental won’t just magically stop and pull their ~200M investment.
Ble cia jau kaip per ta “300” filma darosi.. Ziurint is markoekonomines puses, siaurakiam ar taip ar taip jau saulelydis, pora metu ir pas juos bus capital controls. Gausim isirasyt i vadoveli, kad smeigem tuos balvonus pirmi.
Now we’ll see the extent of unity in the EU.
Lithuania is a threat to China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity 😎 Nice
This whole situation with China is so bizzare, its more like everyone knows that china is bad, yet Lithuania dared to say it. I’ve heard we also got backing from other countries, but idk if they will actually support us completely. And overall, I’m happy that China was put in its place by a small country, but without proper backing idk what china will do. They act like a small child that got spoiled so much that no one dared to say no.
True, but there are EU laws and shit so China can press all she wants it only shows them as a pathetic little bitch and in the end does little if anything.
I work in Littlefuse LT, which makes electronic car components. Our whole safety seatbelt sensor unit is being transfered to Mexico. The transfer will take some time.
We should get electric car component lines, but if we are going to have to do that without the largest car manufacturers, we are gonna get really creative or lose alot of work. Pretty much every car manufacturer sends cars to China, and we make components for all of them, even volvo (which is owned by Chinese Geely).
It will be interesting to see what EU response will be, since China is overstepping some contracts which do not let them do this to a EU country.
But nevertheless, I expect more pressure from China. I really hope the connections we made with Taiwan will come to fruition. But if China gets its chip manufacturing up successfully, we are going to get fucked on that front a bit too.
I think a lot of people here underestimate cultural differences in this. Keeping face/respect is highly important in Chinese culture (and a lot of asian countries as well). In my opinion, this is not about some threat by Lithuania to China, but saving Chinese face.
I think Lithuania shot itself in its own leg with this, and consequences may very well continue for years. Continental may not withdraw from Lithuania, but will other investments come?
Lietuva dar niekada nebuvo tokia galinga, kad isgazdintu net kinija 😀 manau bus puikus irasas istorijoje, kaip kinija kovojo su vienu kaimu kitame pasaulio kraste 😀
Most companies will not want to lose the Chinese market, they would rather leave Lithuania. Almost everything is decided by money. Take for example the transportation of Belarusian potash by Lithuanian railways.

Heads of Lithuanian confederation of industrialists and Baltic automotive components cluster and other business associations are talking about same kind of issues with various international companies which have their factories in Lithuania. It is not direct confirmation, but adds credibility that such actions are possible and ongoing. https://www.15min.lt/m/id/verslas/bendroves/kinijos-kerstas-tesiasi-tekstilininkai-ir-autopramone-bijo-prarasti-europos-partneriu-uzsakymus-663-1613596
