Tory Blunders Give Striking Workers a Chance to Win: They’ve given trade unions the gift of unity.

  1. The fact that the government have stepped in to actively prevent talks going ahead, and that they’ve actively disparaged strikers in the press, can only be fuel to the fire. People are struggling as it is. They’ll be happy to keep struggling if it means a light at the end of the tunnel. Which isn’t a train because the trains aren’t running.

  2. These are the first widescale strikes in decades that have large amounts of public support, I was on an NHS picket line the other day and the beeping of support from passing cars was deafening.

Everyone knows a nurse and everyone knows how knackered they are.

  3. In some industries their minimum staffing rule will make things worse. Disruption will be constant rather than a day or two with a couple of weeks notice.

They really didn’t think this through.
