It’s worth noting that the Government has so far denied various attempts from Khan to suggest other ways to fund TFL.
The Government doesn’t want to bail out TFL but it also is trying to prevent London from making up the shortfall itself. It’s an intentional plan from the Government to publish London for voting for a Labour Mayor.
I just love how financially miss managed local councils, on realising they’ve again totally screwed up their compound risen budget, turn to the excuse, that it’s because of lack of central government funding. Such a lame and tired excuse, but the public seen to soak it up every time. I’m going to try that excuse with my budget at year end when I’m tasked with growing revenue but cutting cost.
