You’re a special type of cunt if you crop dogs ears for superficial reasons.
Pleased it’s been cancelled.
I don’t understand how ear cropping is allowed to happen, as its illegal here. Ok, so with some older dogs it may be impossible to know if they were imported like that, but the report talks of young pups with freshly cut ears. Why aren’t the pups removed and the owner/breeder prosecuted? Seems like a blind eye is being turned as these dogs are everywhere.
Criminals just can’t help being criminal. They could just breed ‘nice’ dogs, and a run a legit dog breeding business. Regular breeds are still expensive and lucrative. Nope, got to breed some kind of canine weapon that has to be mutilated. These dogs are just protection for drug dealers and gangsters. Wouldn’t be surprised if they’re not used to fight too.
Demon spawn mutts. Rancid disgusting little things
Crufts will still go ahead as usual though, despite them doing the same thing. What this kennel club is doing is awful but not unique in any way. All other kennel clubs support abhorrent breeding practices and it leads to horrible deformities that are prized because tradition is considered more important than having a dog that can breathe or walk properly.
I wish the government would fucking do something and bring an end to breeding-in deformities to pet dogs. It’s a moral disgrace that needs dealing with. ‘Supply and demand’ doesn’t seem to be able to do the trick as people are actively seeking out dogs with genetic deformities that make the dogs lives painful.
>Dr Samantha Gaines, from the RSPCA’s companion animals department, said the BBC’s findings raised “big and troubling question marks” over the welfare of dogs shown at previous events.
“Sadly, while ear cropping in the UK is illegal, a loophole still allows dogs to be imported with cropped ears,” she added.
Needs to be pointed out that the RSPCA successfully lobbied the Govt to not extend banned breeds to include these fighting dogs.
It’s nice the RSPCA has enough concern for animal welfare to be concerned about ear-clipping, but not nice they don’t care about these dogs mauling and killing other peoples’ pets. Or mauling and killing people.
If you think that ear cropping is cruel but aren’t vegan, you’re a hypocrite. The animals whose flesh and secretions you eat are routinely mutilated, without anaesthetic, in comparable and often worse ways: debeaked, disbudded/dehorned, tails docked, teeth clipped/ground, castrated: https://www.eatfair.org/
Animals are here with us, not for us; dog breeding and animal agriculture are violence, suffering and exploitation; veganism is the moral baseline
The problem is that the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 is heavily outdated legislation and was only introduced as a knee-jerk reaction to a series of attacks.
Honestly, I think we shouldn’t be banning breeds, but rather irresponsible owners and breeders. We really should be requiring a licence to own a dog (fit and proper assessment, background checks, taking training courses on owning and training dogs), along with a separate licence with even more stipulations to breed dogs. This would make current legislation like the ban on cropping ears and docking tails far easier to enforce.
[To prevent a near-miscarriage of justice like the Dempsey case from happening again,](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dempsey_(dog)) we should be allowing responsible and licensed owners that are willing to to put in the work to train and socialise a dog to own currently banned breeds like the pitbull with more freedoms than what the DDA currently allows. Instead we really should be outright banning the kind of people who buy rottweilers, boxers or American Bully XLs because they want an attack dog that looks “proper ‘aard” from owning dogs.
