Swiss companies ban home working on Fridays over productivity concerns

    Entrepreneurs first, eh?

This would be a shame. Friday is the day I am in the office for sure, because it is always so empty.

Oh and, if people want to be unproductive, you can be very unproductive at the office, especially when you are annoyed that they banned home office on a day you like to do home office.

  2. Can we not share clickbait from 20 minutes recycled by bullshit expat news websites?

My very Swiss employer was already encouraging 30-40% WFH before Covid, the office being most empty on Fridays.

  3. I tell people abroad to not move here. The higher salaries are not worth dealing with the backward business culture, less holidays, less employee protections, and smaller job market (moving back and forth between the same companies, where everyone knows each other).

Taxes are also not that low, if you add wealth tax, mandatory insurances, etc…unless you live in Zug.

  4. Swiss work ethics:

    – You shall work your ass off until you’re dead or too old to enjoy life.

    – Anything fun or even remotely progressist shall be forbidden until it is the norm everywhere else, wherethough it shall be made mandatory.

  5. Our company has a rule that there should be no meetings after 13:00 on a Friday, so its generally considered to be a relaxed day.

  6. This adamant mistrust and disdain towards WFH just shows how little managements seem to be doing on Fridays. I’m sure it’s been said but that whole thing smells like projections from the upper floors.
