  1. Tomorrow (January 27) is the International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Holocaust, so here is a testimony from Simon Gronowski, collected during his recent participation in our commemorative trip. In it, he recounts his escape from the 20th convoy, as well as his mother’s incredible sacrifice.
On 27 January 1945, the Nazi concentration and extermination camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated. Now the War Heritage Institute works every day to honor all the victims and fighters of that terrible time.

  2. I saw the testimony on TV last week. It was so powerful. I was at Auschwitz-Birkenau earlier this year and it’s something I recommend to everyone. Very educational and confrontational. What a privilege to visit it with someone who was a victim of this human catastrophy. One of the darkest pages in European history.

  3. It’s unfathomable how we are capable of exterminating other humans once we see them as lesser people. Everytime I catch myself of being biassed when it comes to people of different ethnicity or religion I try to imagine what it could lead to. And people who think that those ideas are exaggerated should visit one of the extermination camps and should witness the efficient devices of mass extermination they are.

  4. I met this man at festivities for the birthday of the escacpe at boortmeerbeek, interesting man
