The fact that he has to reiterate this after ‘the government’ stated otherwise, just goes to show what disarray they’re in. The fact they think they’re still going to be making decisions beyond the next election indicates delusional thinking.
>”I don’t see any conceivable circumstance in which that would not end up at Euston,” he says.
What about the cost becoming increasingly more significant?
Even Hunt must know that Inflation has not done HS2 any favors and that multiple cuts to the project have already happend and might still happen in the future.
So the massive rash of outrage stories from the usual suspects was just conjecture all along
How did we ever find ourselves with this legacy media?
This is about a war in the Conservative party making everything worse for everyone else.
There is a johnsonian wing committed to stopping hs2 going to Euston, led by bojos father – who now lives in France, but who’s London house will be near hs2.
I have a cynical take here. The original plans included putting a canopy over the whole set of lines coming out of Euston.
This was pitched to us as local residents (I lived there for quite a few years before leaving London) as being a new green zone but pretty quickly it became apparent the plan was obviously to put up a load of cheap tower blocks there to net the developer lots of cash.
The canopy has now been scrapped so the developers are furious because they’ve lost all those predicted profits on housing.
Now the work has already been done levelling the ground that was going to be the new Euston station. So who stands to benefit the most from the station getting scrapped…? I’m sure some conservative MPs are going to get a timely donation from said developers in the near future…
Well at least now when it goes massively oberbudget they can blame inflation.
50 bil estimated comes out at 150 billion. Oh its inflation.
20 years later than promised… ummm inflation?
£10 says they change the definition of “central London” to fit
they know they will be out soon, so they’re just promising anything now
Who cares about HS2? Why cut a 2 hour journey into a 1 hour journey when it takes over 4 hours to get from Manchester to Norwich?
So they need more contractors to put through this gravy train? I wonder for what kind of favours…
Elections please.
Great news. UK again at the front of technology and change.
Well isnt that great. Meanwhile im current on an hour long train journey up north and the 1 toilet on the train is out of order
But aslong as those London people are ok
Electric cars are the future. “#cab apps” these companies should pay more for electricity
