According to GB News…Ireland, outside Dublin, really is a 3rd world country
I know @GBNEWS are a bit loose with the facts sometimes but this takes the biscuit. pic.twitter.com/Q0nvHRO9HS

According to 50% of posters on this sub Ireland is a third world country
The belch in the middle made it for me.
As a person who is a bag of crisps I do feel it’s bullshit that I cannot access the Common Travel Area in the same way as normal “human” people.
So like the UK outside London?
The roads aren’t great outside of Dublin ,he’s not wrong 🤦♂️
Come on up to Donegal here it’s like the wild west
Really feel like he realised that that point didn’t work too well as he was saying it. Like, there’s a point there about the standard of infrastructure outside Dublin (and within Dublin in fairness, somewhat ironically some of his points about hospitals and education probably applies more in Dublin/commuter counties than outside), but he didn’t make it.

13.1% of Ireland’s population is categorized as living in poverty. That number is 18.6% for the UK.
GB News is trash, obv, but in this particular case he said “like Kent”. Not like Kenya. Like Kent. Which would be a fair description of a lot of the west coast, really.
Where did he say third world country? You know he said Kent and not Kenya, right?
Well according to my Dublin coworkers it is
At 0:24 he makes a horse sound. Just saying. Horse-Human hybrids live amongst us!!
He said Kent.
He’s not *that* far off, we have a terrible train system and infrastructure here in Ireland for a supposed leading first world country.
Well, he didn’t actually say that. In fact, he directly compared Ireland outside of Dublin to Kent or Sussex.
The CTA is for Irish and British citizens only, is he calling for a sea border?
Well in fairness public transport sport non existent health care is a joke education is about the only benefit
So he pretty much has the same opinion as most Dubs.
What he said in the actual video is pretty accurate
He didn’t say 3rd world country? Don’t have much issue with what he said
As a dub I found that very complimentary!
Some of the poorest most depraved areas of the EU were found in the UK prior to brexit. They’re likely still poor but they’re just not in the EU anymore. Actually given how much funding they received from the EU they’re likely worse off now
I mean, by the original definition, we are a third world country.
It’s gb news😂😂. Only sad gammons watch it
Your title is more inaccurate than his description
The GB News crowd probably thinks that anyone that doesn’t live in South Dublin are poor. They are notorious for being classist snobs.
I mean, it is to an extent. The whole countryside is farmland and the rural population mostly depends on farming to survive.
I know Dubliners who are sort of think that the civilised world ends at the M50 and the rest of the country is cluchies. And people who want to live inside the m50. They know it isn’t but it is hard to break the belief. I think is why a lot of them say to put stuff (like sewerage plants, wind farms) down the country where there is no one to object to it and they will be grateful for it.
How did ye make the leap from “a bit like Kent or Sussex” to 3rd world country?
*But it was reinforced BBHHHRRGGGHHHHH… pardon me*
He mentioned how housing, schools and transport are not adequate outside of Dublin.
He’d have some of the most upvoted posts on here if he was an r/Ireland Redditor.
Cowsheds and Supermacs
kinda agree , ye guys ever been to cavan…
he’s isn’t wrong like apart from Dublin and maybe Cork there isn’t much going on in the rest of the country, tho with that being said id rather be steady and secure than live in a clusterfuck of a place that is UK at the moment itself
Let’s face it ,it is GB news, they never let the truth get in the way of a good yarn. They have to keep their 100 viewers happy.
The title of this post is a bit misleading. He didn’t really denigrate Ireland at all (North or South).
He wasn’t exactly well-informed by any stretch of the imagination, but he didn’t really say anything disparaging (other than compare us to Kent).
Unless Kent is a post-apocalyptic, Mad Max-style wasteland. I don’t know, I’ve never been…
In which case, how very fucking dare he!
By the original definition, where the first world was US aligned, the second world USSR aligned and third world non-aligned, Ireland is a third world country. I somehow suspect that wasn’t the intended meaning, though
Dublin is the only county that earns more than in spends in public expenditure terms.
Dougie is a horrid piece of shite in a pit of shit of a channel.
Brexit TV is a hateful cesspit, and Dougie fits in well with Piers, Farage, et Al. Very decisive, hateful, Tory cunts.
Rural Ireland’s roads are no where near as good as Kent or Sussex
QI did an interesting bit about this years ago. The question was “what is the nearest third world country to England?” or something like that. The answer was actually Ireland, but the point they were making is that “third world” has a very specific meaning which most people aren’t aware of. When they read the definition of third world (which had nothing to do with poverty if I remember correctly), Ireland was in fact the correct answer.
