I just don’t really understand sentencing in this country.
This guy is obviously a piece of shit, don’t get me wrong. But he has essentially managed to get a 11 year custodial for words and thoughts. Super shitty words and thoughts, don’t get me wrong.. But words and thoughts none the less. Those 3D printed parts, are not a serious attempt at making a gun. I do 3D printing, and they are absolute trash..
I just can’t square this with the guy from yesterday who got a 3 year custodial for forcing that woman to have sex with him, or he’d kill her date..
It just strikes me that it might be easier to reform a racist, than a violent psychopath rapist.
So 3 vs 11 years seems odd, if we subscribe to the idea that prison is for reformation.

Let’s not pretend that this was just “thought crimes” he’s being done for here, he actively encouraged people to murder others.
Sentences like this only serve to show how broken and spineless the rest of the justice system is. Eleven and a half years for encouraging terrorism is, I would say, about right. Four or five years for rape, burglary, killing someone through careless driving, killing someone by supplying them drugs etc. is definitely not right. Are we really saying encouraging and glorifying terrorism is fully _twice_ as bad as those other crimes?
Eminem used to rap about whether or not he was responsible if somebody listened to his music and did something crazy. I am glad that Eminem was not listened to here.
I don’t agree with the defendant at all but this seems excessive. Ban their social media, caution them for inciting hatred but 11 years?!
