I’ve since learned all houses in the area are having trouble.
It sounds to me like there is an electrical fault in the area causing low voltage since you mention the lights are dim and your kettle is slow in another post here.
Contact ESB’s outage helpline and explain.
This is what we call a brown out.
Probably a loose neutral or corroded lines (do you live by the sea?)
The slow sockets is the best term I’ve ever heard!
