Runner says no to competing for GB in Australia over flight climate concerns

  1. Respect to the runner concerned (Innes FitzGerald). Wish her all the best for the future.

Imagine what a fantastic country we would be living in if politicians, especially the current crop of sociopaths in government, had an OUNCE of the moral compass Innes has.

    > “When I started running, the prospect of me competing in the world cross country championships would have seemed merely a dream. However, the reality of the travel fills me with deep concern.

    > “I was just nine when the Cop21 Paris climate agreement was signed. Now, eight years on, and global emissions have been steadily increasing, sending us on a path to climate catastrophe.”

  2. Or you could just go on the condition that the organisers or British athletics offset the carbon?

Emission offsetting is a thing you can pay for.

£72 to offset a return flight to Australia…
