More nonsense, they feel threatened, if i can watch adverts for gambling services then i can also make my own decisions in how i invest my money.
There are genuine crypto scams out there but, these ads aren’t them. eToro UK is even regulated by the FCA. How are these banned yet I can see posters for CMC Markets or IG Index on the tube?
ITT: People thinking the ads were banned just for being crypto based rather than breaking specific guidelines on how to advertise financial products.
>The chain said the “free” Bitcoin offer was entirely different from a scenario where a consumer was given the opportunity to invest their own money in a financial product.
>But the ASA found the offer “trivialised what was a serious and potentially costly financial decision, especially in the context of the intended audience who were likely to have limited knowledge of cryptocurrency”
That seems pretty technically/financially illiterate of the ASA…
The government doesn’t like people owning assets that cannot be easily be controlled, and cryptocurrencies circumvents the British Pound. Expect them to be banned within a few years under the current government.
