  1. But if you look at attachment to region, it’s lower than most, especially in Flanders. I think at least, I’m colour blind.(there’s a strip around Antwerp and some parts of Flanders that seems lighter, no?)

  2. There’s no sensible conclusion possible on this map. We’re 5-6 attached to region, country and Europe. So saying we are mostly attached to the region is bullshit.

Anecdotally, I’ve never, ever, met anyone that would say to a foreigner they are “flemish” when introducing themselves.

  3. Well i cant say much about how other people, but i myself feel a lot more attached to other Flemish regions than Belgium.
If i had to list how i identify, i would put Flemish on number 1, European on number 2 and Belgian only at number 3

  4. I don’t think this means anything. If anything I feel attached to Bruges and Ghent, places where I lived.

So sure, I feel less attached to Flanders and Belgium (yh the map is “right”). But that doesn’t mean I dislike Belgium. It’s still doing a lot for me, I’m just not thinking about it in the way you’re attached to something. But still: yay to red devils, chocolate, fries, beer..

  5. As a pureblood Belgian (who’s family was originally from Wallonia a really long time ago)
Yeah i wouldn’t call myself Flemish even tho i was born in Flanders, im Belgian, above flemish id even just put Antwerpenaar

  6. What is the region that was asked about? Was it a open for interpretation region, or did they ask about Flanders/Wallonia specifically?

Because I certainly would be more attached to Limburg than I am to Belgium, while my attachment to Flanders as a whole is probably a bit lower than that to Belgium.

  7. no attachment to Vlaanderen whatsoever for me, my village sure, I grew up in it, places I studied, sure I have fun memories from there. But my attachment to België is way higher than all of those, i like our funny country, it has so much to offer and it is truly one of the best places in the world to live in.

    Eendracht maakt macht!

    l’union fait la force!

  8. I am indifferent about Belgium. I am indifferent about Flanders. I am indifferent about Europe (except when talking to americans on reddit)

  9. Is ‘region’ meant as flanders or as the province / city? Seeing as how the map details up to provincial level I am inclined to believe people identify more with being of their province than flanders, no?

  10. Bruh, i’d rather die then call myself Flemish. Ain’t no way im associating myself with dem mf’s
