* €150 million isn’t anywhere near enough.
* Local authorities probably won’t be bothered looking for the grants anyway.
* Local authorities could have been addressing funding issues for years if they bothered to apply the vacant site levies but they haven’t bothered.
What are the loop holes?
The issue is the local authority often just ignore these schemes as they can’t be arsed/don’t have the resources and there are no repercussions
Is this just another rejig of the homes over shops scheme that seems to be announced every few years?
Another bunch of genius consultants paid bucketloads to come up with these fantastic ideas
That is such a weird video.
I’ll bet 149m of the 150m pledged will be used for stuff like this.
Will they used compulsory purchase orders though or just buy property
Given the scale of the problem, 150m is piss.
Buhahaha and an post pensioners are getting 500M in pension rise in next 18 months. 150M to tackle housing crisis sounds like f… Joke
That first image is of the Smithwicks Brewery site in Kilkenny which has been redeveloped over the past few years but there will be absolutely no homes in the site so I don’t know why they’re showing it. Kilkenny county council are the owners with Glanbia being the anchor tenants.
Thats not gonna cover it. Sounds like something for their buddies to pocket and do fuck all. As usual.
I wonder if our homeless families might get preference on this initiative..
