  1. The Second Hungarian Republic (Hungarian: Második Magyar Köztársaság) was a parliamentary republic briefly established after the disestablishment of the Kingdom of Hungary on 1 February 1946 and was itself dissolved on 20 August 1949.

It was succeeded by the Hungarian People’s Republic, a one-party socialist state.

  2. Stayed in place til 1949 when soviets officially took over but it’s back again in 1989 after the Soviet Union dissolved. However in 2012 Fidesz, too, symbolically abolishes the republic by replacing the constitution and renaming the country to just Hungary in one of their first moves to dismantle democracy and the rule of law. Hungary never wins.
