Do you spend it all on Guinness?

  1. Norway spends a lot on universal healthcare & education. And it turns out that healthy & educated people are more productive.

    Crazy, right?

  2. So did they mean to say Ireland or did they attach the wrong flag. OP you were watching this, did they even address the error? I don’t know the GDP of Ireland.

  3. It looks like someone was intending to put the Irish GDP in there (also considerably higher than UK’s, and therefore something UK media have been making something of, recently), then for some reason decided to switch it to Norway’s, but forgot to change the flag.

  4. I assume what happened here is that they didn’t know whether to pick Ireland or Norway for the 4th country and was changing to and from, things got swapped and then this happened. I think the people in the backroom know the difference, they just messed up along the way and didn’t notice until it was too late.

  5. The numbers for Germany and Norway aren’t right either. Plus Americans probably don’t know the word “capita”

  6. Honestly the worst part of this image is the fact that ireland can be confused for a country with a gdp per capita like that lmao, we make breadcrumbs over here compared to Norway and the rest of europe

This is why gdp is a terrible way at valuing an economy, especially when ours is highly inflated
