False promises and shady agents: How universities in Northern Cyprus are swindling African students

  1. Well, if the universities and government continue like that they are on the best way to destroy their own success story and kill the economy that is connected with it. There is nothing to excuse what’s happening, but may be two comments to complement the article:
    – Again they cite a twitter warning from the Nigerian government. But what’s happening behind the curtains is different. African governments, especially the Nigerian government, do work with the North Cyprus universities. Representatives from the Nigerian ministry even regularly visit the universities in North Cyprus. – Just because a large number of students have been screwed badly by agents, that doesn’t mean all have been screwed. It doesn’t even mean a majority of students have been screwed. I have personally spoken with a lot of African students on various occasions and I can tell you that a lot are happy, or at least indifferent, with that they get here in North Cyprus; given the limited other choices they have in a world full of inequality.
