Because a 70 year old doesn’t want to run in a general election?
Edit: And of course OP blocked me.
Or you know, just a 70 year old not wanting to sign up for another 5 years.
Sure he didn’t run in the last GE, or the one before that either. He’s been an MEP since 2009.
Because he’s not a TD? He’s an MEP and has said he would like to continue in that role if he’s elected.
He’s just not interested in trying to replace a FG TD who’s retiring.
When’s the last time he ran in a General Election, 2002?
Edit: looks like he has never ran in a General Election.
The man’s 70. He should never even have stuck around this long.
I would support mandatory retirement for all politicians once they reach retirement age. Once you get to 70, you have very little skin in the game for the decisions you’re making. You won’t have to live with the consequences.
Tbh you’d have to be very brave to go door to door for FF or FG atm.
