  1. Poland’s is fairly rationale. Make western developer salary, pay Poland prices.

Come to think of it, why am I still in Canada.

  2. The title doesnt really match the content. This is based on ‘how to be….’ Google searches. People aren’t exactly going to be searching ‘how to be a doctor’ because ‘study medicine’ is the obvious answer, whereas pilots and writers are professions where the average person may not know the entry routes and will therefore google it.

  3. Good luck Germany, 100000 Phds and 5 Professor positions. Probably better chances in becoming a youtuber

  4. Austrians actually want to become a painter, but due to a lack of talent they opt to be the next Charlie Chaplin.

  5. Pretty sure 90% of men in the UK would say something like footballer and the women would say something like influencer or actress.

It’s not very common for someone to say their dream job is a pilot. So I’m instantly wary of this map.

The only maps that are interesting are the ones that are based on facts and statistics.

  6. What did everyone actually want to be as a child? I wanted to be the guy who fed the lion at the zoo. He climbed up on top of the cage, and there was a hatch in the cage and he took a big pitchfork and shoved a big chunk of meat in, which seemed cool.

  7. I thi k something is wrong here … in romania, bulgaria and also ukraine … I seriosly have doubts that someone would like to become a … writer …

  8. As usual: Source? Targeted population? Statistical analysis?

These sorts of maps mean so little without context.

Right, OP did post the [source](https://www.remitly.com/gb/en/landing/dream-jobs-around-the-world?irclickid=ynkXv4WQuxyNRv4zAE1FCTmKUkA3U1S9jxf80I0&af_sub1=Skimbit%20Ltd.&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_source=impactradius&irgwc=1), thanks OP.

So basic credibility check: Who is Remitly?

Answer: A money transfer service that was launched recently.

What is their incentive for this post?

Answer: They want to get ‘trending’ with ‘hot topics’ and make the news for cheap publicity.

How did they conduct this research?

Answer: They did a job on Google search, using: ‘How to become a’ and then the next word. This, they claim, shows what people want to do in each country.

    Methodology:

Answer (Copy and Paste): “Google search data (searching all languages) was used to establish the annual search volume (October 2021 to October 2022) in each country for ‘how to be a [job]’ search terms associated with dreaming of a new job or career for every country in the world. The most searched for job was then used as the top career for the specific country.”

Reliability of information on a scale from 1-10?

    1, completely unreliable.

Edit: Thanks all, this is why you need librarians. Support your library by using it.

  9. Germany with the business-savvy take – being a professor means profiting off of all the guys studying to get into programming, development, law, business and probably also writing.

    Still an absolut portugal W

  10. I actually am an Amateur writer and write for a small magazine and a medium size site.
My publishers believe that I have a really good future in front of me.🙂

  11. So no one wants to grow food, make cars, build houses, or actually do anything resembling work. That’s going to go well.

  12. Why is Ukraine excluded? I don’t want to start a debate, but they are part of europe and I can’t believe there is no data available?

  13. Portugal doesnt want to BE a Firefighter

We just had horrible summer fires and somehow This map is based on an increased search on the topic.

Btw 80% of firefighters in Europe are volunteers.
